Maja Bosnic is an economist who advocates for a fresh approach to public finance and business by incorporating gender equality considerations directly into the budgeting process. She challenges traditional methods in the typically rigid and technocratic fields of public and corporate budgeting.

According to Bosnic, integrating gender equality not only promotes progress towards true gender parity but also enhances budget quality by making them more transparent, fairer, and more effective.

Bosnic offers insights on how to make AI algorithms and solutions unbiased, as well as how to ensure that Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices bring about genuine transformations. Consequently, gender equality needs to be an integral part of product development, human resource management, and community engagement. In other words, the focus is on creating people-centric organizations.

After working on this concept in her home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina in collaboration with the UN, Maja now collaborates with countries worldwide, assisting governments and businesses in creating fairer budgets.

Maja Bosnic spearheaded a team in one of the world’s largest gender budgeting initiatives, supported by the Swedish government and implemented in Ukraine between 2014 and 2021. Over the years, she has collaborated with the International Monetary Fund in training centers globally, worked with the World Bank in Indonesia, partnered with UN Women in Morocco, and engaged with Parliament in Zambia to ensure the integration of the gender dimension in financial decision-making at all levels.
