Rebecka Carlsson is a sustainability entrepreneur and author.
She has co-founded a handful of sustainability companies and worked as a political expert for Sweden’s climate and environment minister and deputy prime minister, including when the Paris Agreement was being negotiated. Rebecka is educated in exponential technologies at Singularity University at NASA and in social entrepreneurship at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and is a partner in ARC – Arise Consulting and author of the books Exponential Climate Change and Sustainable Business Canvas.
Sustainability has only just begun and the next 100 years will correspond to 20,000 years of technological development. What will it mean for your business development?
Technology development and climate change are megatrends that will affect business more than anything else in the coming decades. How can we understand where different technologies are headed and based on that make more informed decisions today? At the same time as technological developments are turning most business models upside down, sustainability is becoming a disruptive force. In just three decades, the world economy will become completely climate neutral, but what are the business opportunities?
In this lecture, Rebecka Carlsson gives a crash course in sustainable development and the more exciting business opportunities that arise when climate change and exponential technologies meet.
As a 20-year-old, Rebecka Carlsson ended up in armed conflicts in northern Mali and opened her eyes to how climate change and the well-being of humanity are connected. 12 years later, as an entrepreneur, Rebecka had co-founded a handful of sustainability startups and worked as a political expert for Sweden’s deputy prime minister and climate and environment minister, i.a. during the period when the Paris Agreement was negotiated.
Rebecka is one of the few Swedes who was educated at Singularity University in Silicon Valley. For three months, she lived at NASA together with 90 entrepreneurs/scientists from 47 countries and was intensively trained in how exponential technologies such as AI, blockchain and robotics can be used to create scalable solutions for the global challenges of our time.
Rebecka is also a frequently engaged lecturer/educator in sustainability, business development, future trends, circular economy and exponential technologies.
In 2018, she was ranked No. 9 on Veckans Affärer’s list of Sweden’s 101 Supertalents. She has been named Sweden’s 20th most environmentally powerful by Miljöaktuellt, one of Sweden’s top shooting stars by ELLE and twice one of Sweden’s top future female leaders by Ledarna. She was nominated for MySpeaker of the Year 2022 in the category Sustainability.
