Shahar Kamay, father of Liri, Arava, and Almo, is an esteemed educational mentor, international juggler, and circus arts instructor. As the director of Move to Circus Academy, he has not only developed a unique pedagogical approach but has also mentored numerous international artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shahar’s life has been nothing short of extraordinary. Due to political and geographical circumstances, he did not receive a traditional school education. In his early years, he resided among Bedouin tribes in the Sinai desert until he was compelled to leave during the conflicts involving Israel, Egypt, and Palestine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His introduction to the circus industry came later, as part of his rehabilitation following a car accident. Despite facing physical challenges, he became passionate about the administrative aspects of circus schools. As a juggler and artist, he frequently made significant contributions to hospitals, re-education and rehabilitation centers, orphanages, and youth centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shahar has taken on leadership roles in international social projects, including the Stefanie’s Not Here Project in Israel and the You are Not Alone project in collaboration with the International Film School of Moscow, Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has pioneered a distinctive methodology that he has presented at numerous universities and educational forums, including the Cirkaround CLAPS in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shahar Kamay not only imparts his educational approach but also embodies it as a way of life. His unconventional journey has shaped his approach, which differs significantly from conventional work habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shahar Kamay: from circus to keynotes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In his lectures, Shahar Kamay explores the psychological connection between the right and left hemispheres of the brain through the medium of movement, particularly through the art of juggling. He delves into topics such as attention disorders, concentration issues, and hyperactivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Hebrew, “\u05dc\u05e9\u05d7\u05e8\u05e8 \/Leshaher” translates to “To release” in a liberative sense, a concept deeply embedded in his work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He holds steadfast pedagogical beliefs, emphasizing the importance of freedom of movement, attentive responsiveness to his students’ needs, and the philosophy of “PLAY” \u2013 the idea that we learn best through play, and teaching is a reciprocal learning process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As he often says: “The best teachers are our own students.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on the group, his lectures can conclude with individual creative tasks, pedagogical discussions, or group activities centered around juggling and expressive performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A proud member of the European Federation of Circus Schools (FEDEC), Shahar Kamay serves as the pedagogical director of Move to Circus Academy and the Stefanie Company, collaborating with choreographer Ines LORCA on international tours and choreographic awards in Finland, Germany, Russia, France, and Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has nurtured the talents of numerous international individuals, including Meshy Rozenfeld, a Jiu Jitzu World Gold Medalist, Yoel Cohen Lev from ENACR, and Neta OREN from Compagnie Ea Eo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2014, Shahar has been the driving force behind the International Circus Youth Convention of Israel, working in partnership with the Israeli Circus of Kfar Yeoshua Israel, the CircuSound Festival, and the founding of the International Association for Education in Circus Arts, Dance, and Movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, he imparts masterclasses at the \u00c9cole Nationale des Arts de Cirque de Ch\u00e2tellerault and is involved in pedagogical and social projects with les Noctambules in Nanterre, France, and artistic and social projects with Indans’cite in Aubervilliers, France.<\/p>\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
